20,000 special forces to ensure election security

TEHRAN – 20,000 special forces will be on duty to ensure the security of the upcoming elections, the special forces commander said on Monday.
Speaking to reporters in Tehran, Brigadier General Hassan Karami said the forces will stay on guard on the “decisive election day,” Mehr reported.
He underlined that this number of forces is a threefold improvement in comparison to the 2013 election.
The presidential and council elections are set to be held on May 19.
